Give Thanks

For as long as I can remember, Fall has been my favorite season. I love watching the colors of the leaves change to become a vibrant masterpiece that only God could create. I love to watch the leaves gently fall to the ground. For this I am filled with thankfulness.

I love the smell of the air, crisp mornings and how the sun starts to warm as it rises to its fullest. I can smell the earthiness of the leaves as they lay on the ground, wet from the frost that settled on them the night before. I again am filled with thankfulness.

When those first snowflakes begin to fall, my heart fills with joy and wonder at how each one has its own shape. When the ground is covered with a nice coating of white, and the pine trees are a mixture of white and green, heavy from the weight of the snow. When the sunlight touches each branch and they glisten like light a million twinkling lights, I am filled with thankfulness.

I am thankful that I woke up to enjoy and take in all of these beautiful, God created masterpieces, and I remember, I am also His masterpiece.

At this time of year, it is easy to get caught up in doing all the things. As a Mom, I try to make sure that my kids have everything they need. I want them to have beautiful memories of their childhood as years go by. At times I work so hard and want to do all the busy work to help this happen, that I forget, I need to be a part of those memories too.

I am learning that when I take the time to play with my child. Or to listen to what they have to say, to have real conversations, these are the memories they will truly cherish. For this, I am truly filled with thankfulness.

Take some time throughout this season, to stop, look around and take in the beauty that surrounds you, my hope is that you are also filled with thankfulness.
